John 16:33

Have you ever heard the idiom, “you win some, you lose some”? It is a nicer way of saying, “eventually everyone is a loser”. While it’s true that we all experience loss, knowing that we are in good company doesn’t seem to lessen the sting of failure. Loosing stinks. But, while knowing that failure is human doesn’t help us trudge through a loss, knowing a courageous creator does. In his accounts of the life of Jesus, the Apostle John shares a message of peace and courage. In chapter 16, Jesus is telling His disciples about His earthly departure, but ensures that He is leaving them with peace. The chapter ends with Jesus saying, “you lose some, I win them all”. When all you can see is your own failure and loss, take heart! Our Savior has great plans for you and will lead you where you need to go!

MEDITATE ON THIS VERSE:

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
