Psalms 27:11-14

The last few days have been VERY COLD, and yet it’s going to be in the high 60s/low 70s by Sunday. Texas weather. Go figure. But, even inconsistent weather can create an interesting analogy for our journey with Christ. In the Old Testament, the story of King David is full of ups and downs. David faced every type of battle: literal, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. We can almost track his roller coaster of emotions through the psalms the he penned. And the most beautiful part? In every season, there is one thing that remained; his confidence in the divine goodness of our creator! No matter how dark and cold the “winter” was for him, He stood firm in The Lord.
As we kick off a year full of exciting highs and lows, let us hold tightly to the wisdom of David. Things will, inevitably, go wrong. But, we find the courage to face everything in our way by remaining confident in the goodness of God!

MEDITATE ON THIS PASSAGE: Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
