“Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.” Yes, this a quote from the great Coach Eric Taylor. If you don’t know who Coach Eric Taylor is, then your best bet is to stop reading this bio, go buy the entire Friday Night Lights series on DVD, and spend the next several weeks watching it in all of it’s glory. I promise, your life will be forever changed.
Over the course of my life, this “clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” statement has become far more than just a quote. It has become the anthem of how I operate and live on a daily basis. I am a firm believer in doing what you are passionate about. So, that’s what I’ve done. Since I was a little kid I’ve always loved music. When I turned 14 my parents got me a guitar for Christmas. Once that happened, they didn’t really see me much. I just played and played, and then played some more. Next thing you know, I’m standing in front of my youth group (really freaked out) leading worship. As time went on, I started to fall more and more in love with worship. Eventually I realized that this wasn’t just some cool thing I loved to do, it was what God had called me to do. So, I ran with it and didn’t look back.
Now trust me, worship is not the only thing I’m passionate about. Anybody who knows me will tell you that I’m probably a little too passionate about one thing; sports. I love my sports. And yes, I’m a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Sorry everyone! When I have free time, I’m probably spending it watching sports, talking about sports, or playing sports. I’m your typical dude, I guess some would say.
“Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.” It’s not just a quote. I believe that God has given each of us something to be passionate about. I took the passions He put inside of me, and I just ran with them. I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do and what God wanted to do. I whole heartedly put everything I have into my passions, and now I feel like I can’t lose. I’m doing what God has called me to do, and when you are doing that, it’s the best place you could ever be. Remember, “clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.” Oh, and go Cowboys!
