How was Village Heights able to partner with Houston Welcomes Refugees?

The need for the services provided by Houston Welcomes Refugees has increased dramatically in our city over the past few years. However with growth, comes the pains of transition.

Village Heights connected with Houston Welcomes Refugees in response to their request for assistance with spatial planning. Knowing the most effective way to serve the refugee community, the team at Houston Welcomes Refugees knew that their warehouse was not set-up to hold the number of Welcome Kits or volume of volunteer training sessions required.

Since their dream of a larger property and building was not yet a reality, and Village Heights was on the hunt for a community crafted project that would spur our audacious generosity, we embarked on our 2022 project. We partnered with Houston Welcomes Refugees to redesign their warehouse.

• Implemented new storage solutions
• Created a more welcoming, inviting and inspiring space for the Houston Welcomes Refugees staff and volunteers
• Maximized the Houston Welcomes Refugees facility’s efficiency, therefore increasing the number of refugee families they were able to serve.
