The Structured Learning Classroom at Helms Elementary serves students with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Students in this setting need intensive support, structured routines, and a flexible physical environment.

Helms Elementary is a dual language immersion school in The Heights that receives Federal Title I Funding. In addition to those unique funds that provide campuswide resources, the Houston Independent School District also provides Wraparound Services to address the non-instructional challenges that students face which ultimately impact their ability to learn: most commonly, adequate food, clothing, and family counseling.
